Zimbabwe Union of Drivers and Conductors (ZUDAC) president Fradreck Maguramhinga has said they are engaging with Government in a bid to revive private transport operators to bounce back into business in an organised manner.
Last year government banned all private transport operators as a way to curb the spread of Covid-19 prompting them to operate under Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (ZUPCO).
“The ban of Kombis was as a result of Covid-19 situation but however, what we have seen is that the ban is now extending beyond.
“As a union we have decided to engage with minister of transport about the plight that is currently affecting youths since the complete ban of Kombis.
“This is a source of living and for thousands of youths in the transport sector and millions as indirect beneficiaries particularly in this situation where we have seen that the economy is controlled by informal sector.”
