Dupliticious Woman Thrown Behind Bars For Stealing From Lover

A duplicitous woman who betrayed her lover’s trust and stole from him has been sentenced to seven years in prison.


31-year-old Lainah Murungweni of Guzha Village, Chief Seke, was arrested after she stole money and a vehicle from her lover Peter Kanjanda, 41, of Waverley in Kadoma.


She appeared before Chinhoyi Regional Magistrate Ignatius Mugova facing two counts of theft. She pleaded not guilty and tried to deny the charges.

However, the magistrate found her guilty following a full trial and sentenced her to seven years in prison. Murungweni will serve an effective three years in prison after the magistrate suspended two years on the condition of good behaviour. Another two years were suspended on the condition that Murungweni restitutes her ex-lover $86 000.


H-Metro reports that during the trial, the court heard that Murungweni committed the crimes last year on July 26. On the day in question, Murungweni and Kanjanda drove from Harare to Chegutu together in the latter’s Mercedes Benz C180 vehicle. Murungweni was driving.

When they got to Chegutu, Murungweni parked the car at a food court and requested a pizza from her lover. When Kanjanda left the car to go buy the pizza, Murungweni took off.


After completing some unspecified errands using the vehicle, Murungweni dumped her lover’s car at Pamunda Bar in Norton. She also stole $78 000 which was in the vehicle as well as a solar battery and various electrical accessories which include 4 red lights, solar battery plugs, electrical cables and 3-way changeover switches
