Thigh vendors in the town of Macheke in Mashonaland East are crying foul after realising that they will not be able to cash in on the proceeds of the tobacco farmers, who are traditionally some of their best patrons. This comes as the wives of the tobacco farmers have taken to accompanying their husbands to the tobacco auction floors to ensure that they can account for all the money realised.
Tobacco farmers have made headlines over the years for all the wrong reasons, mostly for recklessly squandering their income. The tobacco farmers are also targeted by con men and other unscrupulous people who steal their tobacco sales revenues.
It seems that the wives of the farmers have finally cottoned on to the situation and are now accompanying them to the auction floors.
