It seems that the sons of the renowned late traditional healer Sekuru Charles Ndunge are failing to live up to their father’s fame as they keep getting arrested for theft. One of the healer’s alleged sons, Tapiwa Ndunge has been arrested in Bulawayo on theft charges. He is the third son of Sekuru Ndunge to be arrested on such charges since his father’s death.
Tapiwa who is a self-proclaimed prophet is alleged to have stolen two mobile phones from a client who he was supposed to be healing.
According to local publication B-Metro, 38-year-old Norren Kasese from Makokoba rushed to Tapiwa’s house with her sick son for an emergency prayer session and spiritual intervention.
After the prayer session, Tapiwa convinced Kasese to leave behind her two mobile phones, a Mobicel and an Itel, claiming that would fix them.
When Kasese came back to collect the mobile phones, he became evasive and gave multiple excuses. After failing to find him at his home a few times, Kasese had the prophet arrested when she saw him walking in town.
Tapiwa appeared at the Western Commonage magistrates’ court facing a charge of theft. Magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube remanded him out of custody to next week for commencement of trial.
In 2019, Sekuru Ndunge’s other son, Isaac Makuyana Ndunge was thrown behind bars for selling his two clients’ mobile phones without permission.
Isaac was convicted of stealing the mobile phones belonging to his clients Simbisai Zimbodza (35) and Sylvia Njanji (32) and sentenced to 24 months in prison.
