FOUR armed robbers, who were travelling in a Honda Fit vehicle, broke into a house and got into a room where teenage siblings were sleeping and woke them up before taking turns to rape them at knife point.
The incident happened last week on Friday in Upper Rangemore suburb in Bulawayo.
A source close to investigations said Muzomuhle Maphosa (23) and Darlington Mlilo (22) and their two accomplices were armed with machetes and knives. They scaled over the pre-cast wall at a house where the teenage girls live.
The teenage siblings are aged between 15 and 18.
“The teenage girls were asleep, they then woke them up. One of the guys pointed a knife at the siblings and threatened to stab them to death if ever one of them screamed,” said a source.
The source added: “Mlilo and his accomplices took turns to rape the teenagers. After the ordeal they took two cellphones, two pairs of shoes, and a satchel and US$15. They fled in a Honda Fit,” said the source.
The source went on to reveal that on 26 March this year Mlilo and Maphosa ambushed a lady who was walking from Nkulumane shops at around 7pm and force-marched her into a bushy area.
“They waylaid her before taking turns to rape her,” said the source.
Bulawayo acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident: “I can confirm that we arrested two men who allegedly force-marched a lady into a bushy area and took turns to rape her. Last week on Friday at Upper Rangemore they also allegedly raped and robbed teenage siblings while threatening to stab them to death.”
Mlilo and Maphosa appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Munjanja, facing rape and robbery charges. They were not asked to plead.
They were remanded in custody to 31 May.
