The mother of two brothers among the four who were lynched in Kitengela, Kajiado county says she burnt their belongings hoping she would attain closure.
Lucy Wanjiru is the mother of Fredrick Wanjiru, 30, and Victor Wanjiru, 25, who were killed alongside their friends Mike George and Nicholas Musa on suspicion of being livestock thieves. Speaking to the Star, Wanjiru said she set ablaze Fredrick’s drawings and records belonging to Victor who was a DJ but that did not end her grief and anger.
“You cannot kill the memories of my sons if you burn down this entire house. You cannot stop my pain, the pain of a mother, losing her only children in such a brutal manner,” said Wanjiru while sobbing. She insisted that she would only be calm when justice will be served and those who ended her sons’ dreams brought to book. “Only justice can calm me. Only justice will make me feel better,” she added.
