A nine-year-old girl and her four-year-old sister crashed their parents’ car head-on into a truck after stealing it to ‘drive to the beach’.
The sisters, from West Jordan, Utah, told police they wanted to drive to California and ‘swim in the ocean’.
The eldest of the sisters somehow managed to figure out how to drive the car but ended up crashing the vehicle head-first into a semi-truck around ten miles from home on Wednesday.
Thankfully the girls were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured in the accident, which happened on a fast highway, according to West Valley City police on Twitter.
Police said the car suffered serious damage while the truck had to be towed away from the scene by a recovery vehicle.
Girl, 9, and sister, 4, crash parents’ car
Police believe the girls were spared of any injuries as they were wearing seatbelts.
The girls’ parents were sleeping when they took off in the family’s car at around 5am, police added.
Body cam footage taken from one of the responding officers shows the red car embedded in the front of the huge lorry.
