The Champions League group stage has reached its business end, with the fourth round of fixtures out of the way and the first teams having booked their places in the knockout stages after Christmas.
On Tuesday night, Bayern Munich and Juventus became the first teams to secure their last-16 places, beating Benfica and Zenit St. Petersburg, respectively, to take their records to a perfect four wins from four games.
Twenty-four hours later, it was Ajax and Liverpool who followed suit. The Dutch side continued their superb group stage with another victory over Borussia Dortmund , while Liverpool not only booked their last-16 place but also did so as group winners, beating Atletico Madrid at Anfield while Porto and AC Milan drew in the other game in the group.
Elsewhere, the likes of Manchester City and PSG remain in a strong position to qualify from Group A ahead of their meeting in match day five, but Manchester United’s fate is still in the balance as just two points separate the top three in Group F.
